Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 11 July 2025 | Effective Date: 11 July 2025
1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, the following terms have the meanings set out below:
- "Chronveil" refers to Chronveil, a watch repair and timepiece care workshop located at Lot 12, Jalan Dhoby, 93000 Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
- "Client" or "You" refers to any individual or organisation that engages Chronveil for watch repair, overhaul, or restoration services.
- "Services" refers to any watch-related work carried out by Chronveil, including but not limited to Essential Upkeep, Full Service Overhaul, and Legacy Restoration.
- "Watch" or "Timepiece" refers to any item submitted to Chronveil for servicing.
- "Agreement" refers to these Terms and Conditions and any written service quotation accepted by the Client.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting a watch to Chronveil for assessment or service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions. You also confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into this Agreement.
If you are submitting a watch on behalf of another person or organisation, you warrant that you have the authority to do so and to bind that person or organisation to these Terms.
3. Service Description
Chronveil provides watch repair, servicing, and restoration services from our workshop in Kuching, Sarawak. Services are available to clients in Malaysia who are able to deliver and collect their watch in person, or who arrange shipping at their own cost and risk.
Services are subject to availability and to the technical feasibility of the required work. Chronveil reserves the right to decline a service request if the work required falls outside our current capabilities or if the risk of damage during service is considered unacceptable.
4. Submitting Your Watch
When you submit a watch to Chronveil, you represent and warrant that:
- You are the lawful owner of the watch, or have the owner's explicit permission to submit it for service
- The watch is not the subject of any theft, insurance claim, or legal dispute
- You have disclosed any known pre-existing damage or condition to Chronveil at the time of submission
Chronveil records the condition of each watch at intake. By submitting your watch, you accept that this assessment may identify pre-existing damage not previously reported.
5. Quotation and Approval
Following an initial assessment, Chronveil will provide a written quotation for the proposed service. No work will commence until the quotation has been accepted in writing (including by email or text message).
If, during the course of a service, additional work is found to be necessary, Chronveil will notify you and obtain your approval before proceeding. Work beyond the agreed scope will not be carried out without prior authorisation.
Quotations are valid for 14 days from the date of issue.
6. Payment Terms
All prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). Payment is due in full upon collection of your watch. We accept cash and bank transfer; credit card and other payment methods may be available — please enquire at the time of service.
Watches will not be released until payment has been received in full. If a watch remains uncollected and unpaid 60 days after the completion of service, Chronveil reserves the right to apply storage charges and, after appropriate notice, to treat the watch as abandoned.
Prices stated on our website are indicative starting points. Final pricing is determined by the service quotation provided following assessment.
7. Service Timelines
Estimated turnaround times are provided as guidance only and are not contractual commitments. Delays may occur due to the need to source parts, the complexity of the movement, or workshop scheduling. Where a significant delay is anticipated, Chronveil will inform you promptly.
For Legacy Restoration work, timelines are discussed and agreed at the scoping stage. Changes to the agreed scope may affect the timeline, which will be communicated accordingly.
8. Care and Handling
Chronveil takes reasonable precautions to protect watches in our care. Each piece is stored in a labelled, individual tray and is subject to access controls within the workshop. We maintain professional indemnity cover for items under service.
Whilst we take every reasonable care, Chronveil cannot accept liability for loss or damage arising from pre-existing weaknesses or defects that are revealed or worsen during the course of necessary service work, provided we have informed the Client of the associated risk before proceeding.
9. Intellectual Property
All content on the Chronveil website, including text, images, and design elements, is the intellectual property of Chronveil or used with appropriate permission. You may not reproduce, distribute, or modify any content without our prior written consent.
10. Disclaimers
Chronveil provides services using professional skill and care, but does not warrant specific outcomes. Watchmaking involves working with mechanisms that are sometimes extremely worn or fragile — outcomes depend on the condition of the watch and the availability of appropriate parts.
Our website content is provided for informational purposes and does not constitute professional advice specific to your individual circumstances.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law, Chronveil's liability to any Client in connection with any service shall not exceed the total amount paid by that Client for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental loss, including loss of sentimental value, loss of use, or loss of income, arising from the provision of our services or any delay or failure in provision.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence.
12. Force Majeure
Chronveil shall not be liable for delays or failures in performance arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, utility outages, supplier delays, or other events that materially prevent or impair the provision of services.
13. Dispute Resolution
In the event of any dispute, we encourage Clients to contact us directly in the first instance at [email protected] so that we may attempt to resolve the matter informally. We will respond to such enquiries within 10 working days.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sarawak, Malaysia.
14. General Provisions
These Terms and Conditions, together with any written service quotation, constitute the entire agreement between Chronveil and the Client regarding the services in question and supersede all prior communications.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. A failure by Chronveil to enforce any provision shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
15. Changes to These Terms
Chronveil may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Updated Terms will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of our website or services after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
