Chronveil workshop

Our Story

A Workshop Built on Steady Practice

Chronveil was established to offer Kuching residents a place where watches are looked after without haste — and where the person bringing them in is kept properly informed.

Who We Are

Chronveil — Timepiece Care in Kuching

Chronveil began as a small watch repair bench in the Jalan Dhoby area of Kuching, opened by a technician who had spent over a decade working with mechanical movements in Sarawak. The idea was straightforward: a place where people could bring a watch — whether a daily wearer or a grandfather's piece — and receive honest advice and careful service.

Over the years, that single bench became a proper workshop. The range of work expanded to cover full mechanical overhauls and the slower, more deliberate work of antique restoration. The founding principle stayed the same: assess carefully, explain clearly, and do the work properly.

Today, Chronveil serves collectors, everyday watch owners, and families preserving sentimental pieces across Sarawak. We work without rushing and without cutting corners — because a watch, regardless of its price, deserves that consideration.

Our Mission

What We Stand For

Transparency in Every Step

We explain what we find, what we intend to do, and what it will cost — before we begin. No hidden decisions.

Patience Over Speed

Certain work — especially restoration — cannot be hurried. We set realistic timelines and keep to them.

Respectful Handling

We recognise that a watch can hold considerable personal meaning. We treat every piece accordingly.

Our Standards

How We Work

Pre-Work Assessment

Every watch is assessed under magnification before any work begins. Movement condition, case integrity, and seal status are all checked and noted.

Water Resistance Testing

Where appropriate, watches are tested for water resistance after seal work and case reassembly — using dry pressure and vacuum methods.

Timing Verification

Mechanical movements are measured on a timing machine after servicing to confirm accuracy is within acceptable range before return.

Secure Workshop Handling

All pieces are kept in labelled, dedicated storage trays during their time with us. No watch sits unaccounted for on the bench.

Client Data Privacy

We retain only the contact and service information necessary to do our work. No personal data is shared with third parties for commercial purposes.

Service Documentation

A written record of work completed is provided with every service — useful for insurance purposes, resale, and future servicing intervals.

Watch Repair and Timepiece Care in Kuching, Sarawak

Chronveil operates as a specialist watch repair workshop serving Kuching and the broader Sarawak region. Our work covers the full range of watch servicing needs — from the straightforward renewal of a battery in a quartz watch to the methodical reassembly and regulation of a vintage mechanical calibre.

Mechanical watches in particular benefit from periodic servicing. Over time, the lubricants within the movement dry out, debris accumulates on the escapement, and the timing regulation shifts. A properly executed service restores the movement to specification and extends its useful life significantly. At Chronveil, this work is carried out using the correct tools and lubricants for the specific calibre — not a generic approach that cuts corners.

For antique and vintage pieces, restoration requires additional patience. Case metal may need careful polishing, dials may be fragile, and period-correct parts can require sourcing through specialist suppliers. Our restoration work is staged, with the client informed at each step. We do not proceed without agreement, and we do not make changes beyond the agreed scope without discussion.

We serve Kuching residents, watch collectors across Sarawak, and those who have inherited a timepiece and want to understand what condition it is in. Whatever brings a watch through our door, it receives the same considered attention.
